Due to the significant changes in human body during the first 12 months after surgery, it is strictly discouraged to be pregnant during this period. In the following months, patients may get pregnant after doctor controls.

Babies are fed with mother’s milk for the first 6 months. Milk quality is heavily affected by the amount and balance of nutrients taken by the mother. Thus it is not recommended to undergo gastric sleeve surgery during the first 6 months of the baby’s life.

As we enter the year 2021, we see an increase in the number of stomach revision surgeries performed. There are 3 complications worth mentioning:

1. Thromboembolism: It is a life threatening situation where blood clot forms, especially in deep veins of legs and possibly clogs blood vessels of lungs.
   This risk is highly reduced with the following actions: low molecule weight heparin before surgery, pneumatic socks worn during surgery, early mobilization of patients after surgery (4 hours after operation)
2. Bleeding
   Patient should be carefully monitored after surgery.
3. Leakage
   If there is an opening in the operated segment and there is a leakage of stomach content into the abdominal cavity, it is defined as leakage. It is a complication treatable after early detection by patient’s reporting in time.

In the first 15 days after surgery: walking with light tempo. After 15 days: walking with a good tempo. 1 month later: swimming. 3 months later: pilates. 6 months later: other heavy sports are allowed.
