Obesity Surgery Process
Obesity Surgery, or in other words Weight Loss Surgery, is a significant and severe treatment, which puts certain limitations and considerations on patients for the post-surgery period. Since our stomach is a sensitive and vital organ, it deserves a proper healing period. Depending on the patient and the surgeon who performs obesity surgery, the instructions may change. However, several golden rules apply to almost all obesity surgery patients.
Diet after obesity surgery
1-) Stick to the liquid food diet provided by your surgeon
2-) Drink enough water/liquids on a daily basis. The minimal amount of water has to be at least 2 liters.
3-) Limit eating foods rich in starches and carbs such as sugar
Necessary Food Supplements After Obesity Surgery
It might appear as a chore but there is a list of vitamins and minerals, which have to be taken for life. In case these food supplements are not taken, there may be serious consequences, some of them being possibly deadly. These minerals and vitamins are:
- Vitamin D
- Vitamin B12
- Calcium
- Iron
- Vitamin complex
Exercising and Walking After Obesity Surgery
After the Bariatric Surgery process, first of all, it is recommended to walk frequently. Walking should begin several hours after obesity surgery is performed. It is important because of its huge benefits on fast recovery. As for exercising, it must be agreed with patient’s own doctor, without overdoing it, and trying to do daily, for approx. 20-30 minutes.
